It is sad but it is reality and maybe one that Twitter will have to come to terms with very soon.

tr.im is a URL shortening service that is useful for many reasons but the really wanted to be adopted by a service like Twitter.

Unfortunately there is no good way to monetize their service.

Some URL shortening services have resorted to browser bar Frames or pop-behind ads but that is not really useful as a sure method of generating income.

We wish them all the best and hope that they can find other opportunities.

At the very least they accomplished serving the needs of many people and must have learned quite a lot in the process.
