In an email announcement to all of their developers Elance one of the Internets largest freelance developer work sites warned that their database has been hacked.

“We recently learned that certain Elance user information was accessed without authorization, including potentially yours. The data accessed was contact information — specifically name, email address, telephone number, city location…”

Michael Culver Vice President Elance also went on to say they are working with authorities and have implemented some new security measures but once gone the data can not be retrieved.

We will see what if anything comes of this in the near future.
